Loving this Product...

I really believe there is NO need to spend huge amounts of money for a perfect skin care collection!!
As long as you know your skin type & the appropriate skin care regime it shouldn’t cost a fortune.
Cleansers & toners are all superficial products that have one main purpose
a) to remove excess oil, dirt & makeup
b) toner; to remove excess cleanser & to close the pores.
Supermarket products are perfect for this !!
I will write about scrubs, masks & moisturisers another day if your interested?
One product I would definitely like to add to my Recommended products album is the Clarins face oil 🙂
This is an expensive oil €39.50, but I would highly recommend it for any one over age 25 with dehydrated skin, this is a product well worth investing in.
There are 3 different oils available for different skintypes, I bought the one for dehydrated skin.
This is Clarin’s blurb about the product;
*Anti-aging care for Dehydrated Skin. *100% pure plant extracts. *Zero preservatives. *This best-selling oil contains extracts of Rosewood, Patchouli and Blue Orchid to tone, revitalize and restore radiance to moisture-depleted skin. *Hazelnut Oil helps prevent moisture loss and the formation of fine lines. *Non-staining.
Personally, this oil made a visible difference to my skin & the smell reminds me of that gorgeous smell you get at health spas 🙂
I think Irish skin really benefits from a treatment oil, especially because our skin is subjected to extremes ;heating on, freezing weather…. alcohol 😉
It is a treatment product so the Clarins girl advised me to either *apply every night for 2 weeks then take a break for a few weeks nd retreat or *apply every 2nd or 3rd night.
I’m applying maybe twice a week & especially on a Monday if I have had a hectic weekend.
I am guessing this oil will last a good 6mths as a little goes a long way.
I guarantee apply this to a cleansed face just before bed & you will have a lovely night sleep… The smell is so luxurious and you will wake up with a really fresh hydrated face.

Love new foundation..

*An interesting fact* Girls did you know that Bourjois cosmetics own Chanel!!!!

The reason I mention this is because personally I believe Bourjois products are manufactured using very similar ingredients & high quality. It is definitely a high quality brand with high street prices worth trying out.
Lots of people have asked me about a nice foundation with even coverage so I thought I would fill you in on my new purchase;

*The Radiance Reveal Healthy Mix shade I have on is No 54 Beige.*
Bourjois’ new Radiance Reveal Healthy Mix
*It has different fruit extracts that help with hydration & apparently ageing & radiance.
*It has crystalline pigments to even out the complexion while letting in the natural light for that healthy looking glow.
This really is a hydrating foundation which applied much easier with my fingers then with any of my foundation brushes… perfect when you are in a hurry!

This would be ideal for a lot of skin types but I would mainly recommend it for Normal-dry-dehydrated skintypes.
Personally I find my skins needs have changed in the last few years, some of my heavier foundations are starting to set in my wrinkles:-( or expression lines 😉 , so I am swaying towards anything that offers luminous hydrated skin. If you are in the same boat I would advise you to avoid Oil-free foundation or anything powder based as this will only add to the appearance of fine lines!

I also purchased their 123 Perfect CC Eye Cream, it is an illuminating Eye Care concealor.

The skincare action of an eye cream + the colour correction of a concealer!
It has a silicon applicator (personally I prefer to apply it with my finger) * Always use your ring finger when applying any products to your eyes as this finger has the least amount of pressure so you will never drag at the area!

What I like about this is it Camouflages imperfections and dark circles around the eyes without creasing. Like the foundation it promotes 24Hr hydration & it has SPF 15.
Always choose a lighter tone eye concealor then your foundation. I have No.21 Ivory on & I applied a small amount under my brow bone & down my nose so it doubles as a contouring tool.

***Superdrug Omni are offering 3 for 2 on the Bourjois range so if you are interested in trying it have a look there.

AAhhh..why do my arms look like Chickens skin??

Keratosis pilaris

*What is it?
Keratosis pilaris is a fancy name for a common skin problem: patches of scaly, slightly red bumps that can appear on the back of the arms, butt, or cheeks.

*Why You Get It?
Keratosis Pilaris is a harmless condition caused by the skin’s excess production of the protein keratin. Basically, the protein surrounds a hair follicle and plugs it, resulting in a scaly red bump.

*Where does it occur?
Most commonly, keratosis Pilaris is found on the backs of the upper arms, buttocks, cheeks, and thighs.

*What aggravates it?
Dry winter air often aggravates the problem, as do really hot showers, which dry out the skin further. The good news: the condition tends to lessen in severity as you age, often disappearing entirely by age 30. (One advantage to ageing
If it is really bothering you a dermatologist can help set you up with the right moisturizers to treat it.

*Home treatments;.
• Take a quick, lukewarm shower instead of piping hot ones.
• Never vigorously scrub the affected areas while bathing—that can cause aggravation.
• Post-shower, gently pat skin dry with a towel
• Apply a lotion or cream that gently exfoliates with active ingredients (some to look for: salicylic acid, glycolic acid, lactic acid, or urea. Always check with your pharmacist if trying these products..women who are pregnant need to check & I diabetics need to check too!!..depends on the strength of the active ingredient)

Products formulated with these ingredients soften and loosen dead skin cells, and can even help break down the excess keratin.

Hope this helps,

Eve 🙂

Eyebrow Shaping Made Easy for Everyone..

Eyebrow Shaping

  • 1: Choose the Right Tweezers. Slant tip tweezers are much more effective & you’re less inclined to nick the skin
  • 2: Cleanse the skin..oils or makeup on the brows will make it harder to grip the hair.
  • 3: Using an eyeliner pencil follow the guide & mark the indicated areas.
  • 4: Stretch the skin well using two fingers…one at the base of the follicle the other at the opposite side.
  • 5: ALWAYS pull the brows in the direction of growth NOT out to the front. ***This can lead to the bulb of the follicle becoming trapped under the skin giving the appearance of *stubble under the skin.
  • 6: Make sure you are removing from the root & not breaking the hair!
  • 7: Take a break to assess what you are doing midway… Don’t over tweeze!
  • 8: Once finished try not to touch the area or apply makeup as the follicles are open & you are more likely to be prone to infection…

Check out the Beautiful Brows Semi Permanent Makeup..it comes with a brow powder (choice of colours available) a highlighter, tweezers & 3 great shape stencils.. so you are guaranteed symmetrical brows 🙂 Really good product..the powder lasts 24hrs plus it is sweatproof, waterproof & smudge proof. I love this especially to put the finishing touches on a nice makeover Image

Before & After Makeover using the Beautiful Brow Set..

What are they?
Milia are small, raised, pearly-white or yellowish bumps on the skin.
Milia are not acne!
Milia are very common in newborn babies but can affect people of any age. In babies, milia clear by themselves and no treatment is needed. In other people, they may take longer to clear and, in persistent cases, treatment may be suggested.
They are formed when keratin (a substance produced by the skin) becomes entrapped beneath the outer layer of the skin, forming a tiny cyst. An individual milium (the singular of milia) is formed at the base of a hair follicle or sweat gland.

The main causes of adult milia are as follows:

  • Sun damage,
  • harsh facial scrubs,
  • heavy comedogenic lotions and sunscreens
  • overly hot showers.

The KEY to Preventing Milia is EXFOLIATING!!
Avoid heavy moisturiser; preferably try an oil free & non-comedogenic product.

Where are they found?

They are most often seen on the skin around the cheeks, nose, eyes and eyelids, forehead and chest but they can occur anywhere on the body.
Signs and Symptoms;

Milia appear as 1–2 mm white-to-yellow, dome-shaped bumps that are not painful or itchy.
Home treatment; although milia are found in the outer layers of skin, they are difficult to remove without the proper tools.
*Do a targeted Massage using a suitable facial exfoliant twice weekly.
If your skin is dry try mixing the home made exfoliant using; Almond Oil, Brown sugar & 2-3 drops of lavender oil. If you have oily skin try mixing a small amount of almond oil, porridge oats & brown sugar, you may also add 2-3 drops of tea tree. Rinse well & tone with a natural astringent like ‘Witch Hazel toner’.
Milia may be removed using a fine needle and then squeezing, or pricking, out the contents. You can get them removed by a dermatologist but unfortunately they can return.

*Regular facials with an experienced therapist…Me;-) will definitely improve the condition.*

If milia become very widespread and persistent, various other treatments may be suggested, usually by a skin specialist (a dermatologist). They include:
• Laser treatment.
• Dermabrasion (a procedure that removes the topmost layers of the affected skin).
• Chemical peeling (a treatment where a chemical is applied to the face to burn off skin lesions).

If you are considering removing the Milia yourself (although it is not recommended to squeeze or try to treat milia yourself. This can lead to skin damage and scarring or infection.*) make sure you follow these rules; all tools& implements Must be sterilised, Disinfect your skin really well afterwards to prevent infection.

Face Oils…What are they???

• Face Oils: What?
Facial oils are made up of a variety of different botanical oils, or based around a single plant-based extract (like argan, lavender or chamomile). They provide skin with powerful antioxidants and nourishing vitamins.. Plus the essential oils are highly aromatic, without containing any artificial fragrances or colorant. And contrary to popular opinion, these treatment oils penetrate quickly and deeply, leaving a velvety-smooth (decidedly ungreasy!) finish. “The oils have light molecular weight and non-comedogenic(do not clog pores)properties, so they’re able to easily absorb into the epidermal layers.
• Face Oils: Why?
The aroma therapeutic healing properties of facial oils are a kinder, gentler alternative to traditional moisturizers. There’s an essential oil to help balance every skin type—from breakout-prone to dryness—which leads to a calmer, less-stressed complexion.
• Face Oils: How?
The way you apply facial oils is almost as important as formula, itself! First begin with thoroughly cleansed, damp skin. Pump five to seven drops of facial oil into your palm, rub hands together and gently press oil into face and neck, avoiding under-eye area. The application of your face oil must be followed by a gentle massage. This slightly warms the skin, allowing the oils to penetrate more quickly. If you’re using an anti-aging oil, also do a target massage over troubled areas.
• Face Oils: When?
I would recommend you apply face oil once or twice a week as a treatment. The most effective time would be after you have cleansed, exfoliated & applied a face mask. (I find using the oil at night the most beneficial as the smells really help me drift into a lovely sleep). Rinse your face mask thoroughly then apply your face oil, avoiding the eye area.
